CAPIT Words: Learn to Read
CAPIT Words teaches children ages 4+ how to blend Letters and Sounds (phonemes) to create simple words (VC and CVC words). Through a series of 30 levels of increasing difficulty and complexity, children learn to identify, isolate, manipulate, segment, delete, and blend sounds in words.
CAPIT Words is a stand-alone app that your child can play with and learn from on their own. Knowledge of letter sounds is a prerequisite for the use of this app. CAPIT Words does not contain digraphs or diphthongs.
CAPIT Words has no monsters, letter-eating-frogs, or flying spacecrafts. Its clean design and patent-pending system helps parents give their children the pre-reading skills necessary to succeed in kindergarten, and beyond. CAPIT Words is fun and enjoyable, accommodating all children, whether gifted, EL, or struggling.
CAPIT Words is part of a suite of Capit Learning apps that gives young children the Alphabet knowledge they need before they enter school, or the extra support and scaffolding they need at home to support their school’s reading curriculum. Every app developed by Capit Learning is based on research, and is thoroughly tested in the classroom by educators, teachers, and students, before it is released into the app store.
The National Reading Panel (NRP, 2000) has outlined the five components of reading instruction: 1. Phonemic Awareness; 2. Phonics; 3. Fluency; 4. Vocabulary; and 5. Comprehension. CAPIT Words covers the first and second of these Big 5: Phonemic Awareness and Phonics.
Our CAPIT Reading App is a comprehensive core reading curriculum for PK-2 which covers all of the Big 5 components, and is available for schools only.
